Solano Avenue Stroll – Expectations of Public Conduct (EPC)
The safety of all guests, participants, volunteers, vendors, and staff is the highest priority at the Solano Avenue Stroll.
The Solano Avenue Association produces the Solano Avenue Stroll under permits issued by the Cities of Albany and Berkeley. Participation in and attendance at the event are at the discretion of the event organizer. Guests who violate these Expectations of Public Conduct or applicable laws may be refused entry, asked to leave the event, or removed by event staff or law enforcement when appropriate.
Appropriate Attire: Shirts and shoes are required. Clothing displaying obscene language or images, or content intended to incite violence or target individuals or groups based on race, religion, ethnicity, or other protected characteristics, is prohibited. Attire intended to deliberately conceal an individual’s identity in a manner that interferes with public safety or law enforcement may be prohibited. Body armor or simulated body armor is not permitted.
Prohibited Conduct: Disorderly, disruptive, or unsafe behavior is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, fighting, threatening behavior, offensive or abusive language, spitting, throwing objects, running, obscene gestures, skateboarding, blocking storefronts or pedestrian traffic, or any conduct that interferes with the safety or enjoyment of others.
Participation Standards: EVERYONE is expected to comply with these Expectations of Public Conduct and all event rules. The Solano Avenue Association reserves the right to refuse or revoke participation privileges for conduct that is unsafe, disruptive, unlawful, or inconsistent with the mission and character of the event.
Prohibited Items: Weapons of any kind (real or simulated), “snap-type” or “popping” amusement devices, silly string, water-projecting devices, and any other item determined by event staff to pose a safety risk are prohibited.
Personal Transportation Devices: Bicycles, skateboards, scooters, kick scooters, and similar personal transportation devices are not permitted within the event area. This restriction does not apply to wheelchairs, mobility aids, or other ADA-permitted mobility devices operated at pedestrian speeds.
Drones and Remote-Controlled Devices: The launching, landing, or operation of drones or other remotely controlled aircraft or vehicles within the event area is prohibited unless specifically authorized by the Solano Avenue Association.
Service Animals: Only trained service animals, as defined by applicable law, are permitted. For the safety of all guests and pets, please leave non-service animals at home.
Unauthorized Sales and Solicitation: Selling merchandise, distributing materials, soliciting donations, or promoting activities within the event area is prohibited unless authorized by the Solano Avenue Association.
Sound and Performances: Amplified sound, performances, or demonstrations outside of approved event programming are not permitted without authorization from the Solano Avenue Association.
General Information: Please safeguard your personal belongings and do not leave bags, purses, strollers, or other valuables unattended. All guests are expected to comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, including Albany and Berkeley ordinances regarding smoking and alcoholic beverages.
Photography and video recording take place throughout the event. By attending the Solano Avenue Stroll, you acknowledge that your likeness may be captured and used in promotional, marketing, news, or archival materials without compensation.
